Cell Phone Policy
CELL PHONE & TECHNOLOGY POLICY:
At Fort Logan Northgate, we are committed to maintaining a distraction-free learning environment for all students. Research has shown that cell phones, tablets, and other devices not only distract the user from learning but those around them in the classroom as well. Cell phone use during free periods like lunch and recess has contributed to negative social media interactions, leading to conflicts and emotional distress. In order to foster a positive and safe learning environment FLN has adopted the new policy regarding tech.
Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day. If students bring their phones, tablets, or other technology to school, they must be turned off and stored:
Grades 4-5: Keep in their backpacks
Grades 6-8: Locked in their assigned locker
Using devices inside the school building is not permitted. If a student is found with a cell phone on their person during the school day:
-
Offense 1: It will be confiscated by a staff member and can be retrieved by the student at the end of the day.
-
Offense 2: The phone will be confiscated and a parent or guardian will need to pick up the device
-
Any Further Offense: Family conference with administration & further consequences
Additionally, personal speakers are not allowed on campus at any time.
Please note that Fort Logan Northgate is not responsible for any lost or stolen devices.
In-House Electronics:
Fort Logan Northgate is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to explore technology through many resources in the classroom. Students are expected to handle technology with care. Destruction of school property may result in fines, loss of technology privileges, or further disciplinary action.
